One year imprisonment to DC office employee for accepting bribe

SRINAGAR, Sept 26: The then Senior Assistant in DC office Budgam, who had been caught accepting bribe of Rs 3000 in 2007, was today convicted and sentenced to one year imprisonment.
Anti Corruption Judge, Srinagar, Ravinder Nath Wattal convicted Ghulam Mehdi Pandit, son of Ghulam Hassan Pandit of Iskanderpora, Budgam, in case FIR No. 21/2007, Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir and sentenced him to one year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000/- under Section 5(1) read with Section 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2500/- under Section 161 RPC.
The accused person was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.3000/-from Mohammad Ramzan Bhat for processing his file regarding providing of a path way. Chief Prosecuting officer Ghulam Jeelani/Senior Prosecuting officer Reyaz Ahmad argued the case before the court.
The accused has been sent to jail.
