JAMMU, Sept 26: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) has claimed that same annual premium of Mediclaim Insurance Policy for all category of Government employees was unfair, unjustified and unacceptable.
An emergency meeting of Employees Joint Action Committee (K) Jammu was held today under the chairmanship of Balwinder Singh, president of EJAC to discuss the State Administration Council Decision No. 54/10/2018 dated 31.08.2018 issued by Govt. order No. 406-FD of 2018 dated 20.09.2018 regarding implementation of Mediclaim Insurance Policy for all State Government employees including employees of PSUs/ Autonomous Bodies/ Universities, Pensioner, IAS Officers and their dependent family members and other emergent issues/problems being faced by the State Govt employees.
The meeting was attended by Dharminder Singh Bhargav, Ravi Singh Bhau, Nazir Ahmed Bhat, Ravinder Singh, Narinder Singh, Ravi Kumar and others.
All the members present in the meeting described the Govt order as unjustified and unacceptable as equal premium of Rs 8770 for State Govt employees of all categories to Class-IV to IAS Officer is unjustified and the Govt should have taken into consideration the amount of salary received by different categories of the employees while fixing the amount of premium.
The EJAC membes claimed that a meeting for implementation of Mediclaim Policy in J&K was conducted by State Govt between representative of employees and the ICICI Bank representative under the chairmanship of Naveen Choudhary. The annual premium was fixed nearly about Rs 5300 while giving the same amount of insurance cover but now a deal has been struck Reliance Insurance with more than 65% increase annual premium that is Rs 8770 of Reliance Insurance from Rs 5300 of ICICI Bank, we smell a rat in it.
It is just to benefit a particular company that Govt employees are being made scape goats. It is totally unjustified and a big burden on State Govt employees in specific the non- gazetted cadre. EJAC demanded immediate withdrawal of this Mediclaim Policy, no deduction of premium and that a open bid to this effect may be called from all other insurance companies. The giving maximum benefits on lowest premium may be selected or medical allowance may enhance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000.
The employees also rejected office timing from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and demanded that five day weeks working pattern in all offices of J&K Govt should be enforced on the analogy of Central Govt offices.
