POONCH, Sept 26: The people held protest demonstration after a village boy was crushed to death by a bus at Dingla village on Poonch-Mandi Road today.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place when the 8-year-old boy, Shakeel Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of Dingla (Poonch) was crossing road. A bus No. JK-12/ 1045 which was on way to Poonch from Mandi side, ran over the boy at around 11 am, killing him on the spot. While the driver of the bus stopped the vehicle after some distance and escaped from the spot, a large number of people gathered there.
The police party from Poonch also rushed to the spot. The locals blocked road and started protest demonstration. The movement of the vehicles was stalled on the road. Later, SHO Poonch arrived there and he pacified the agitating villagers. The people lifted dharna and body was shifted to District Hospital Poonch for postmortem and performing other legal formalities by police.
