Panchayat and Municipal elections

Sir,
Kindly refer news item “Congress to contest Panchayat Municipal election” DE Sept 20, 2018. “Better late than never” is a wise saying which aptly applies to one of the mainstream political parties of the State i.e. the Congress party which has finally decided to participate in the Panchayat and Municipal elections as declared by the State party president where as the other two main political parties NC and PDP have decided not to participate in the said election thus depriving the followers of the two parties to contest the election. The election of Panchayat and Municipalities elections are not based on party lines but with all that the followers of these two parties will follow the dictate of party heads the Congress party being the oldest party has broadmindedly decided to participate in elections to provide ample chance to the followers to elect the Panchayat and Municipality members etc. Panchayats being the administrative units for betterment of villages in the form of education, health, agriculture and social welfare etc. The elected members to these bodies happen to be well versed in the basic needs of the concerned areas. Moreover, the funds are provided and allocated by Central Government. In case of non existence of such bodies the funds allotted by Government get lapsed. In order to fulfill the dream of “Father of the Nation” Bapuji.
