Pensioners highlight demands

JAMMU, Jan 13: To solve the issues and genuine demands of retired employees, Chief Minister’s Political Advisor Devinder Singh Rana arranged meetings of the delegation of J&K Pensioners Welfare Association with the Minister for Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon and Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo.
The delegation, led by Sampat Parkash, earlier submitted a memorandum of demands to Rana, who assured to take up the matter with concerned authorities.
During meeting with Mr Akhoon, the Association apprised the Minister about the demand for release of leave salary of retired employees of Transport Department and their pay arrears. The Minister directed Secretary Commissioner Transport to take up the matter with Principle Secretary Finance for early release of the arrears.
Sakina Itoo also listened to the demands of the Association and said that another round of meeting would be held on January 24 for a detailed discussion on implementation of Senior Citizens Act in Jammu Kashmir.
The Association thanked Mr Rana for his positive approach towards the genuine demands of retired employees.
Mr Rana also assured to arrange a meeting of the Association with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in last week of January for finalization of 14-points charter of demands.
