THATHRI, Sept 29: MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohamamd Saroori today visited the Thathri accident spot area and monitoring the rescue operation where the search has been launched to retrieve the body of one teacher from GBHSS Thathri Mohammad Saleem Wani, son of Ghulam Hussain Wani, a resident of Phagsoo Thathri.
“In recent times State is marred by road accidents, particularly in hilly areas of the J&K. Despite tall claims by Government of safeguarding the lives of innocent people, the accidents keep occurring time after time”, Saroori said and demanded disaster management planning, equipments, trained fishermen to retrieve the body from river Chenab and installing crash barriers on the 30 kms of stretch from Batote to Chatroo Sinthan road.
Saroori regretted that such accidents have become a routine affair but no concrete action has been taken so far by the Government to save precious human lives. He urged the Government to take safety measures on these hilly and tough roads to avoid further loss of human lives in future.
It is to mention here that an Alto K-10 car bearing registration number JK06A-2180 was on its way to Thathri from Doda, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into river Chenab near Jangalwar area on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway, resulting into on the spot death of two Government teachers including one female teacher of Government High School Bella, identified as Parmeshwari Devi (50), wife of Arvind Kotwal, a resident of Bella, district Doda. Search has been launched to retrieve the body of another-victim identified as Mohammad Saleem Wani, a teacher in GBHSS Thathri, son of Ghulam Hussain Wani, a resident of Phagsoo Thathri from the river.
Later Mr Saroori also interacted with general public in Block Congress office Thathri and said that the people should realize the power of ballot in a democracy and exercise the real power to express resentment and dissent against the policies of PDP, NC and BJP. He said that free and fair polls and people’s participation in this electoral battle would send a right signal against the policies of other political parties and there can’t be any better way available to the people to express their anger and resentment and rejection of the policies of these parties.
