Dr Raina attends Blood Bank experts’ meeting at Noida

JAMMU, Sept 30: To finalise the National Reference Standard (NRS) for Anti-A & Anti- B Antisera (Blood Grouping Reagents), Dr T R Raina, former Prof Head Blood Transfusion Department, Government Medical College Jammu and Former Programme Manager Blood Transfusion and Laboratory services J&K State attended third meeting of Experts in the field of Transfusion Medicine at National Institute of Biologicals, (NIB) Noida functioning under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
Dr Raina is the member of Technical Committee of Experts in the field of Transfusion Medicine constituted by the National Institute of Biologicals to prepare the ‘National Reference Standard’ for the reagents used in the Blood Banks across the country for the detection of Blood Groups in the human blood.
During the deliberations of the meeting, the National Reference Standard for Anti -A & Anti-B sera was finalised and it was decided that the concerned national authority shall communicate to all the Blood Banks across the country to follow the set guidelines and use the Anti-A & Anti-B Antisera of the prescribed National Reference Standard in their Blood Centers and maintain quality control of the Blood Grouping Reagents.
