Panchayat Ghar torched

SRINAGAR, Oct 1: Unknown persons tonight torched a Panchayat Ghar in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The Panchayat Ghar at Watoo in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district went into flames tonight.
Around one dozen Panchayat Ghars were set ablaze in Kashmir since elections to the Panchayats and Local Bodies were announced last month.
And the Special Police Officer (SPO) Adil Bashir who fled with seven rifles and a pistol from the residence of a PDP legislator in Srinagar has joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.
The pictures of Adil in which he is posing with a gun along with other members of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, including top commander Zeenat-ul-Islam have gone viral on social networking site.
Adil fled with seven rifles and a licensed pistol of the legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir from his residence at Jawahar Nagar Srinagar last week. A picture of the seven rifles has also gone viral on social media today. A Police official said that Adil executed his plan with the help of a civilian from Shopian district.
Security forces today conducted searches in Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Army’s 13 RR, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 45 Battalion of CRPF launched a joint operation in Syed Mohalla and Mir Mohalla localities of Hajin town this morning.
The cordon and search operation was launched at around 5 am in the morning. However, no one was arrested and operation was later called off.
In the meantime, three persons who had gone missing in Kupwara in 2015 have been arrested by Army near Line of Control (LoC) while returning home from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The trio had crossed the LoC in November 2015 and were apprehended in Keran sector of frontier Kupwara district while returning home.
They were apprehended by Army’s 3 JAK LI (Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry) soon after they crossed the border near Balbir Post yesterday. The are Ali Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz of Trehgam, Ghulam Jeelani Khatana of Dardpora Kralpora and Mir Hussain Khatana son of Muhammad Ismail of Dardpora, Kralpora.
Ali Mohammad is a former militant, who had crossed the LoC for the first time in 1990 and returned in 1991 and then crossed in 1996 and returned in 1997. He later surrendered before the Army.
Mir Hussain is also an ex-militant and had crossed the LoC for the first in 1990. He surrendered soon after returning in 1992.
Ghulam Jeelani had crossed the LoC for the first time in 2015.
In 2015, the trio went missing and , their families blamed that they were lured by a Territorial Army man, Manzoor Ahmad. He was later arrested by police on court orders.
