This has reference to the news item ‘Lohri for you’ DE Jan 12.
The author has rightly expressed dismay over the way festivals are celebrated by people in the present times.
If people are not celebrating these festival with the same enthusiasm on spirit at present, it is because materialism has taken preference over spirituality among people. People do not have time to think over things that are connected to our spiritual development.
Every section of society irrespective of region and religion has this grouse that it is losing its cultural moorings rapidly, and expects that this slide stops somewhere, so that it can retain its cultural identity.
