NEW DELHI, Oct 2: Advisor to J&K Governor, B B Vyas today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and discussed the status of the various ongoing Central projects in the State as well as the preparation for the successful conduct of the local body elections.
Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated the promptness with which the Governor’s regime had, in the recent weeks, pushed forward some of the important projects of national importance which had been pending for quite some time. He particularly noted that within the last one month itself, at least five projects of national importance had been cleared, which included Shahpur-Kandi Dam, Ujh Multipurpose Project, Seed Processing Plant at Kathua, Devika river Cleaning Project under National River Rejuvenation Plan in Udhampur and National Institute of High Altitude Medicinal Plants in Bhaderwah.
Dr Jitendra Singh urged upon the Advisor to Governor to expedite the process of disbursement of funds among the PoJK refugees so that the amount of Rs 2,000 crore allocated by the Centre could be disbursed at the earliest. He however, expressed satisfaction that the State Administrative Council (SAC) in its meeting last Wednesday cleared the decks for disbursement of Rs 5.5 lakh to each of the families of West Pakistan Refugees.
Dr Jitendra Singh also referred to the enthusiasm among the people for the ongoing local body elections. He observed, it is for the first time that the common aspirants and the common people have shown greater enthusiasm to be a part of the election process, compared to even some of the main political parties.
Vyas conveyed to Dr Jitendra Singh that the Governor’s regime is fully geared up to ensure smooth conduct of the local body elections. He said, every arrangement is being made to ensure peaceful and uneventful polling.
