PSO’s relative detained in Mohali

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: An Over Ground Worker (OGW) and a former militant were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to a jail in Jammu for militancy links while National Investigation Agency conducted raids in the house of a businessman in Srinagar today.
Shopkeeper Hilal Ahmad Dhobi of Hamdania Bazar Tral who, police said, is an OGW of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit and a former Hizbul Mujahideen militant Arizoo Bashir Najar son of Bashir Ahmad Najar of Mandoora village of Tral were booked under PSA for helping militants in the area.
Dhobi was detained during a nocturnal raid at his house on Sunday while Najar was in police custody following his arrest last year.
In the meantime, National Investigation Agency (NIA) today raided the residence of a businessman in old city Srinagar.
The NIA carried our extensive searches at the residence of Ajaz Ahmad Hakak in Nowhatta area of the old city. Ajaz is running a medical shop in the area. Sources said that he has been called by NIA for questioning on Thursday.
The raids were conducted in connection with funding of militancy in Kashmir under which several separatist leaders are already in NIA custody.
And Punjab Police in Mohali on the leads provided by Kashmir Police detained a relative of Special Police Officer (SPO) who deserted along with eight weapons from a legislator’s house in Srinagar last week.
Gazi Ahmed Malik of Heff Shopian and Mir Imran of Pulwama, engineering students of Aryans Group of Colleges were picked up by Punjab Police two days back. Imran, a third semester engineering student, was released last night while Malik is still in custody.
Gazi is being questioned on the inputs provided by Kashmir Police to Punjab Police as he is relative of the deserted SPO and was in touch with him.
It may be mentioned that all the security guards of the legislator were suspended and detained by police for questioning. DGP Dilbag Singh has said that the PSO was already in touch with the militants.
