POONCH, Oct 2: Some thieves broke opened the house of an Army Havaldar in Mendhar area of district Poonch last night and decamped with gold ornaments and other costly items worth lakhs.
A police spokesman said that Havardar Nissar Ahmed, resident of Gohlad ( Qasim Nagar) Mendhar had been deployed in Jodhpur area of Rajasthan. He had come home on leave. Entire family had gone to attend a family function at a village in the area. No one was there at home during night. Some unknown thieves broke opened the main gate and locks of other three doors and decamped with gold ornaments worth more than five lakhs and other costly electronic items and blankets etc.
The family came to know about the incident in the morning and they lodged an FIR with Mendhar police which has started investigation.
