Legislators, VC IMPA call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Oct 3: Mian Altaf Ahmad, Member Legislative Assembly from Kangan, called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan.
Mian Altaf informed Governor regarding the various developmental issues which require high priority attention in his constituency and issues relating to the tribal community in J&K.
Governor appreciated Mian Altaf’s concerns and urged him to continue sustained efforts for promoting harmony and people’s welfare in his area. He emphasized the crucial importance of making grass root level democratic institutions vibrant for bringing about holistic development of towns and villages.
Ramesh Arora, Member Legislative Council also called on Governor and informed him about several important growth and developmental challenges which face the people of Jammu region and the difficulties faced by the people of the State because of the disturbance of peace and normalcy.
Governor and Arora discussed the development benefits that can accrue from establishing self-governing institutes at grass root level, besides direct involvement of people in formulating planned development of their areas.
Mohd. Yousuf Bhat, Member Legislative Assembly, Shopian  informed Governor about various problems relating to his Constituency and shared his views about steps required to bring peace and normalcy in the State.
Governor urged Bhat to continue his efforts for promoting a peaceful environment in his area and work zealously for advancing the interests of J&K. He stressed higher attention to skill development programmes and the promotion of sports, for the holistic development of youth.
Governor emphasised the importance of empowerment of people through establishment of local self-governing institutions which will strengthen democratic framework at the grass root level and ensure direct participation of people  in the development programmes of their villages and towns.
Ghulam Mohd. Saroori, Member Legislative Assembly, Inderwal brought to Governor’s notice several problems and developmental issues of his constituency particularly those relating to Roads, Health, Education, Power and PHE sectors which were languishing for want of the funds required for their completion.
Governor urged Saroori to continue sustained efforts for promoting the development and the welfare of the people of his area andurged him to continue his endeavours for generating awareness among people about the importance of establishing grass root level democratic institutions for overall development of the State.
Meanwhile, Lokesh Dutt Jha, Vice-Chairman, J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration, and Rural Development, met Governor and briefed him about various programmes and calendar of activities of the Institute devised for capacity building and skill enrichment among different individuals and organizations in the government. He discussed certain important matters of administrative importance and infrastructure-up gradation plans of the IMPA.
Governor noted the vital role being played by the IMPA in creating high quality managerial cadre for manning different echelons of the administration, inculcating quality decision making competencies and keeping theadministrative machinery of the State abreast of latest developments in the country and the world at large.
