Narcotics smuggler arrested, ‘Chitta’ seized

UDHAMPUR, Oct 3: Udhampur police today nabbed a notorious narcotic smuggler from Circular Road in main bazaar and seized six gms of contraband substance (Chitta) from his possession.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rayees Mohammad Bhat said that based on a reliable information, a Police party led by SHO Udhampur, Insp Sanjeev Chib under the supervision of Zahid Saif Wani, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur, laid a surprise naka at Circular Road near main bazaar Udhampur and intercepted the accused.
On being subjected to thorough search, six gms of heroin (Chitta) was recovered from his possession. The identity of narcotic smuggler was established as Rakesh Singh son of Lt Jasvir Singh, resident of Near Sai Baba Mandir Devika, Udhampur.
Police arrested the accused and seized the recovered heroin. In this connection, a case FIR number 506/2018 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is taken up.
The arrested accused was one of the main supplier of drugs in Udhampur town.
