DB directive to DFO Poonch in PIL highlighting encroachment

JAMMU, Oct 3: Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta today directed the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Poonch to ensure that eviction orders are duly served upon all the encroachers.
The direction was passed in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by inhabitants of village Hari seeking direction to the respondents to initiate eviction proceedings against those who have encroached more than 2100 kanals of forest land falling in Compartment 51-A at village Hari in Surankote tehsil.
After hearing both the sides, DB observed, “status report has been filed by Divisional Forest Officer, Poonch, wherein it is stated that after verification, a conclusion has been arrived at that 127 persons have encroached the forest land falling under compartment No 51/A and eviction orders have been issued them”.
While granting five weeks time for filing status report, DB directed the DFO Poonch to ensure that all the eviction orders are duly served upon the persons against whom eviction orders have been passed.
