Court rejects bail plea of husband in abetment of suicide case

JAMMU, Jan 14: Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu, S R Gandhi has rejected the bail application of one Mohd Qayoom, a resident of village Palli block Dansal, who was arrested by the police in abetment to suicide of wife.
According to the police case, on November 19, 2012 dead body of Shamim Bibi was found hanging with tree at village Palli. During the enquiry statement of mother of decease namely Shamshad Bibi was recorded and she deposed that her daughter Shamim Bibi was married to Mohd Qayoom in the year 2011.
The accused developed relation with some other woman which was not tolerated by the deceased. The accused even conducted second marriage with the lady namely Rozina. Being fed-up with the ill-treatment meted out to her, Shamim Bibi committed suicide by hanging.
After hearing CPO Harminder Singh with Investigating Officer Inspector Pervaz Ahmed, SHO Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, CJM observed, “it is a case in which a young woman ended her life as her husband/accused contracted second marriage against her consent. The material so far collected by the police pin-points the involvement of accused for the commission of serious offence under Section 306 RPC”, adding “keeping in view the seriousness of the matter, the cases needs to be dealt with sternly. The investigation of the case is at its initial stage and in case accused is released on bail at this stage, there is every apprehension of accused influencing the witnesses/absconding resultantly hampering the investigation”.
With these observations, court rejected the bail application of the accused.
