JAMMU, Oct 4: All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association staged a protest demonstration this morning at Exhibition Ground, against State SRTC for not clearing their pending dues.
Addressing the protesting VRS employees, president, VRS Union, Dev Raj Bali and general secretary, Surinder Singh, strongly criticized the attitude of SRTC and higher authorities of Transport department towards VRS and GHS employees of State SRTC.
“We took VRS/GHS on the assurances that our dues will be released within 60 days but it is sorry to state that we are struggling for the same for last more than eight years”, Bali said, adding due to dilly dallying policy of the authorities, the pending dues of VRS/GHS employees which include COLA arrears, 6th Pay Commission arrears and pension benefits has become a total sum of Rs 16,76,49,497.00.
Bali said our own Department is doing injustice with us, as on one hand our services have gone and on the other hand our dues, which were promised to be cleared within 60 days from the date of VRS and GHS, are still pending.
Reiterating the demands of the Association, which included COLA arrears since 1999, 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from 1st January 2006, pension benefits and bonus at the rate of 8.33 % on basic pay, Surinder Singh appealed Governor SP Malik to intervene personally to release the dues of VRS/GHS employees.
He warned the authorities that if their demands were not acceded before Darbar move, the VRS/GHS employees will gherao the civil secretariat on November 5 in Jammu.
