JAMMU, Oct 4: In continuing process of Smart City Jammu Project, the Govt of India Department of Telecommunication today organised a Smart City Digital Payment Mela in the office of Controller of Communication Accounts J&K Jammu .
The Mela was inaugurated by Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Jammu who is also the Commissioner of Smart City Jammu Project.
The Mela was organised under the supervision of Amit Sharma, Controller of Communication Accounts Department of Telecom J&K. All the Telecom Service provider, which includes Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, BSNL and JIO, participated in the Mela. From the banking side, the lead Bank State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and J&K Bank participated in the Mela.
All the Telecom service provider made aware their retailer regarding the acceptance of digital payment from the customer and make maximum use of digital payments ways.
The NPCI also participated in the Mela.
In his address, the Commissioner of Smart City and the Dy Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar asked the Telecom service provider and the Banks to aware the general public regarding use of digital payment means.
Amit Sharma, Controller of Telecom Accounts, J&K, informed the gathering that only ten percent of the telecom retailer are using digital payment ways and it needs to be increased to 100 percent as it is a part of the Smart city project.
Amaan Ullah Tak, the Jt Controller of Communication Accounts, while presenting vote of thanks, also stressed on using the digital payment as convenience to public
This Mela was first of its kind in Jammu being a part of the Digidhan Mission of Smart City Jammu
The main objective of the Mela was to target the Telecom retailer and to enable these telecom retailer to cater the consumers.
Bilawal Shafiq, the Asstt Controller of Communication Accounts, was the Master of ceremony today. It was further decided that a similar Mela will be organised very soon in Srinagar City.
