JAMMU, Oct 5: Pradesh Congress Committee president, Ghulam Ahmed Mir has said that Congress Party would win Urban Local Bodies elections comfortably.
Addressing series of election meetings in Ward No, 5, 6 and 65 of Jammu city today evening, Mir extended gratitude to the gathering for their enthusiasm and participation in large number and said that Congress will win comfortably in ongoing ULB elections, as it has strong base in all three regions of the state. He blamed BJP and PDP for weakening the PRI and dividing the state in the name of religions and regions, castes and communities.
He was accompanied by AICC secretary incharge J&K affairs Shakeel Ahmed Khan (MLA).
Mir further said that Congress has always protected and preserved the multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi- religious diversity of this nation but today the traditional peace and harmony is under serious threat and added that only Congress can restore the elements of trust and confidence amongst different section of society. He said that Modi government is trying to divert the attention of people from the real issues of corruption, black money, failure on demonetization, failure to providing 2 crores jobs per year, disoriented GST, unprecedented hike of all items, the atmosphere of hatred and division in the country, increasing crimes against women etc.
Mir said that Congress is always in favour of strengthening the grass root level institutions of democracy and succeeded in its struggle to fully empower Panchayat Raj system by implementing and incorporating to 73rd amendment in the State Panchayat Raj Act in march 2014 and provided in the State Act provisions for directly elected Panch, Sarpanch, elected Block Development Council and District Boards with 33% reservation to women at all tiers and SC/ST reservations as per their population but the PDP& BJP have undone the same by a retrograde amendment.
He appealed the people to vote in favour of Congress candidates in the ongoing ULB elections for the better and equitable development, peace and prosperity in the state.
PCC vice president Mula Ram, Ex-MLA Balwan Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Hari Singh Chib, PYC president Uday Bhanu Chib also spoke in these meetings.
