JAMMU, Oct 5: Senior BJP leader and MLC Vibodh Gupta intensified the campaign for ULB elections in Rajouri Municipality and held series of meetings in various wards of the Municipality. During his address in various wards MLC also flayed PDP, NC and BSP for not contesting ULB elections and attempting to hamper democracy in the State.
Vibodh said, “elections are the integral part of democracy and registered State/national level political parties with recognized symbols are mandated to participate in all elections as per section 29A(5) of Representation of People Act 1951”. “NC, PDP and BSP are State/national level recognized parties and have violated section 29 A [5] and 29 A [7] of Representation of People Act 1951 and Election Symbol Order 1968 by not contesting the elections”, he added. He strongly asserted that these parties disrespected constitution, democracy and people while espoused the cause of separatist and terrorist.
Lauding the people of J&K in general and people of Rajouri-Poonch in particular, MLC said that the people of the State have tightly slapped separatists by supporting Local Bodies’ elections. The Muslim dominated twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch extended no support to false propaganda of Hurriyat which has left its leaders red faced, he added. He appealed them to vote, support and elect BJP candidates contesting from their respective wards.
Speaking on the occasion BJP district president, Bharat Bhushan Vaid complimented the people for showing support and faith in BJP. He also asserted that BJP will win by huge margin in Rajouri town as it will record a historical victory.
