Governing Body of SMVD College of Nursing meets

KATRA, Oct 8: The 28th meeting of Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) College of Nursing, Kakryal, was held here and discussed several matters relating to the future growth and development of the college as a top ranking institution in nursing and research.
The meeting discussed the modalities for framing a policy to organize Continuing Nursing Education programme by the College for the faculty of nursing colleges which is proposed to be of 2 days duration and conducted once a year.
Besides, the Governing Body also discussed the matters with regard organizing the State level Inter-College Nursing Fest “Tarang 2019”, 3rd Lamp Lighting ceremony and annual day function of the College shortly.
The meeting was chaired by Maj Gen SK Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the College of Nursing while Dheeraj Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Dr MK Kumar, Additional CEO; Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Administrator of the College; MM Gupta, Chief Engineer of the Shrine Board and Dr Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College of Nursing participated in the deliberations.
The Governing Body took review of the various activities organized by the college recently including inter-house public speaking competition, besides motivational lecture and interactive session by the Chairman of the Governing Body. The Governing Body emphasized the need for organizing more such activities for benefit of the society at large.
During the meeting, a 3-member committee headed by Dr Harjai was also constituted to formulate guidelines for pursuing Ph.D in Nursing programme by the faculty of the College.
Reviewing the to-date status of construction of infrastructure of the College, the Governing Body was informed by the Chief Engineer of the Board that two hostel blocks comprising 96 rooms with a capacity for accommodating 3 students in each room and two residential blocks for faculty and staff of the Nursing College will come up next year as per the envisaged timelines.
