Corruption: China takes action against top party officials

BEIJING, Oct 13: The Communist Party of China (CPC) has taken disciplinary action in 12 cases of corruption and related crimes.
Officials were found to have been involved in cases of using public funds for banquets and traveling and accepting bribes, among other misdeeds, and their punishments ranged from an intra-Party warning to dismissal, according to a statement released by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), Xinhua Net reported.
In one case, former Party chief of the Purple Light Movieland surnamed Zheng, and Wen Jingming, manager of the company, used 527,700 yuan (76,000 U.S. dollars) of public funds to buy gift cards and sent cards worth 346,700 yuan to the company’s leadership from March 2014 to September 2017.
In addition, the company held three banquets for the leadership and some staff using public funds from December 2014 to January 2016. Zheng and Wen received serious intra-Party warnings in August.
