Godhra riots:Setback for Modi as SC restrains Special Court

NEW DELHI, Jan 17:
The Supreme Court today restrained the special court Ahmedabad from delivering the final order on the SIT report exonerating Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his role during 2002 Godhra riots.
A bench comprising Justices D K Jain, P Sathasivam and Aftab Alam passed the order while hearing the application of Zakia Jafri, widow of slain Congress MP Ehsan Zafri who has challenged the trial court order dismissing her application for supply of the copy of the SIT report.
The SIT headed by former CBI director Mr Raghavan has given a clean chit to the Gujarat CM.
The apex court today directed the Ahmedabad special court not to pass the final order in the matter till the application of Zakia is decided by this court. (UNI)
