Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Fare hike good for railways development’ DE Jan 17.
The railway fare hike was over due. And it has come at a time when the Railways was in dire straits. The falling revenue reserviours had started affecting the infrastructure building capacity of the Railways.
There is urgent need to reform Railways as passengers are suffering. The number of trains on needs to be increased to accommodate growing number of passengers. More areas need to connected through Railways.
Besides, the quality of facilities need to improved. The food provided in Railways is not of quality. At times, stale food is served to passengers. Besides, the Railway stations throughout the country need to be given a face-lift.
Modernization of Railways is quite important, and there should be no compromise with it.
Yours etc….
