Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Governor for conservation of heritage buildings’ Jan 17.
The landscape of the Jammu and Kashmir State is dotted with a number of historic buildings. The buildings are symbols of our rich culture and tradition. They are witness the good and bad days of our past. As such they need to be maintained and conserved for our posterity.
Though it is not easy to bring back them to their past glory, but we can’t let them crumble and turn into a heap of rubble. The agencies involved with preserving them should identify all such buildings which need to be conserved. After restoring them to their original glory, they can be turned into places of tourist interest or into musuems, libraries etc.
Yours etc…
Rahul Kumar
