18 bovines rescued, truck seized

RAJOURI, Oct 27:  The police foiled a major attempt to smuggle bovine animals to Kashmir via Mughal Road in Rajouri and rescued 18 cattle last night.
An official spokesman said that a truck used in bovine smuggling was seized last night near Kallar on Jammu-Rajouri highway by police and eighteen bovines were rescued from it.
A team of police headed by Incharge Police Post Chingus -Chatyar, SI Sanjay Raina under the supervision of SHO Rajouri, Ajaz Haider laid a naka for traffic checking at Kallar Chowk on highway and intercepted a truck No. JK02BP-7383 and put found 18 bovines found loaded in it.
The police seized truck along with cattle and arrested its driver and his associate. They were identified as Gurdeep Singh, son of Mahan Singh, resident of Greater Kailash in Jammu and Nazakat Hussain, son of Mohd Akbar, resident of Qazikund. A case under relevant sections has been registered and investigation taken up by Rajouri Police.
