NEW DELHI, Oct 28 : Accusing certain Kashmir politicians of practising separatism behind the mask of mainstream, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh has said that such so-called mainstream politicians are more dangerous than the identified separatists and thus, a cause of worry.
Delivering the keynote address at “Kashmir event” organized by a leading national TV channel, Dr Jitendra Singh described some of these so-called mainstream politicians as the “enemy within”, who were engaged in competitive separatism.
In an unsparing attack on some the Kashmir-centric regional political parties, Dr Jitendra Singh held them guilty of sustaining militancy and said, they had developed a vested interest in the continuation of terrorism, which had enabled them to become Chief Ministers and Ministers for the last three generations in an atmosphere of vacuum, without having to face genuine democratic competition.
Dr Jitendra Singh came hard on some so-called intellectuals who found Kashmir a fertile playground to promote their intellectual pretensions. He said, the recent trend has been that anybody can pay a brief visit to Kashmir and then come back to write a book and claim credentials as an intellectual. This “intellectual terrorism” also needs to be exposed, he added.
Reiterating that there is need to change the narrative because there is no such issue as Kashmir issue, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the only issue is to retrieve back the illegally occupied PoJK and also restore back Kashmir’s original cultural character which is possible only with the return of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community.
Denouncing protagonists of so-called freedom struggle in Kashmir, Dr Jitendra Singh described them as fake freedom fighters, who used others’ children in the name of Jehad but lodged their own children in safe havens.
However, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the post 1990 generation of Kashmir children can no longer be taken by this bluff. It is evident from the fact, he said, that every year during the last four to five years, the youth from Kashmir have been doing exceptionally well in some of the leading All India competitive exams for Civil Service/IAS IIT/JEE, NEET etc.
