JAMMU, Oct 30: All J&K Home Guards Welfare Association today highlighted their demands including fixation of salaries of Home Guards.
Addressing a press conference here today, Kamla Sharma, president of the Association, said that Home Guards in Punjab are getting Rs 33685 per month and Rs 20190 in Delhi while West Bengal has converted all the Home Guards in one unit under one roof i.e. Belt Force.
She said that Home Guards of the State are performing their duties with dedication and remain forefront whether it is Amarnath Yatra, Independence Day, Republic Day, flash floods or Haj duties but the State administration has completely neglected them. She requested the Governor administration to fix the salaries of Home Guards of the State taking into consideration the neighbouring states.
Kamla further expressed anguish over the recent circular of Additional Director General of Home Guard/Civil Defense and SDRF regarding engagement of SPOs (skilled), adding why the services of already employed Home Guards are being disregarded who have undergone the prescribed training courses.
“The working Home Guards have full right to be absorbed keeping in view their length of service”, she said and urged the authorities concerned to withdraw the circular of engaging new SPOs and absorb the already employed Home Guards.
