JAMMU, Oct 30: The KP Sabha has condemned the highly biased and mischievous statement made by the antinational and pro separatists Legislator Engineer, Rashid that the Kashmiri Pandits were not forced to leave Kashmir in 1990 but left of their own free will and that they don’t wish to return and settle back in the Valley because of the relief and other amenities that they are getting.
President of the Sabha, K K Khosa in a statement today said that nothing could be further from the truth and it is extremely unbecoming of a legislator to indulge in cherry picking and making such preposterous statements when Kashmiri Pandits have been expressing their earnest desire to return to the ancestral land as soon as the conditions are conducive for such an eventuality.
He said as far as contesting elections is concerned Er Rasheed should be aware that Kashmiri Pandits have been consistently contesting in every election without fail since the year 1996 but have never got substantial support either from the Valley based voters or from the Kashmir centric political parties to get elected as a Legislator or as a Parliamentarian.
Khosa said all those Pandits who have been elected to various Municipal Committees and Corporations need to be welcomed and given all support. The Pandits continue to long for a sense of belonging in the land of their ancestors over which they have an inalienable right. It is due to the insensitivity of people like Rashid who have developed a highly radicalised mindset that they wish to ignore the age old legacy of peaceful coexistence and tolerance which is extremely vital to restoration of peace and tranquillity in the Valley, he added.
