CPMG inaugurates School stamp show

SRINAGAR, May 4: A school stamp show was inaugurated today at Government Higher Secondary School Batmaloo by John Samuel, Chief Post Master General, Jammu and Kashmir Circle.
In a statement, a spokesman of the Postal Department said the department has taken up initiatives to encourage school students to take up the hobby of stamp collection. He said a special postal cover on the school was released by Chief Post Master General.
Moomina Qadir, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Batmaloo appreciated the role played by the Department of Posts in spreading philately among school children.
The Chief Post Master General announced the establishment of a Philately Room at the school. This is the first of its kind in the state. The Philately Room at the school will function as Philately Museum displaying the stamps issued by India and other Philately products. Students will get to know of Philately through the Philately Room.
The Chief Post Master General announced that such exhibition will be held at more than 12 schools and at NIT during May. He said that this event will bring the school students closer to the Post Office.
During the exhibition, 5000 rare stamps from India and abroad would be on display. Stamps on Lady Diana, Harry Potter and Animal Kingdom would be a feature during the exhibition.
Along with the exhibition, letter writing contest on the theme ‘Letter to My Teacher’ will be  held and best exhibits given Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
