KATHUA, May 4: While highlighting the importance of self employment schemes, Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjit Singh Slathia exhorted upon the unemployed youth to take maximum benefit of the schemes like SKEWPY, KVIB loan scheme, PMEGP and become self sufficient with constructive vision and approach in the society.
The minister was addressing a series of public meetings at Samba and Kathua. He said that state is registering massive development and appealed the people to strengthen the hands of the Coalition Government. He also highlighted the achievements of the Government in boosting energy sector, road connectivity, health, education and strengthening of Panchayati Raj System in the state. The minister impressed upon the people to come forward and supplement Government efforts to ensure equitable development.
Responding to the demands of people of Samba regarding construction and upgradation of link roads, the Minister informed that the construction of Sarna and Taloor road will be taken up soon. He said that Rs. 4 crore has been sanctioned for poles and pumpsets for border areas.
Responding to the demand for Tehsil status to the Ghagwal Minister said that proposal for granting the same is under consideration of the Government. He said that Sabzi Mandi Samba will be upgraded to help the farmers and traders. He also assured that the priority will be given to the local youth in the industrial sector.
People of Kathua apprised the minister about their problems of drinking water in kandi areas and demanded deep bore wells. The Minister assured the people that shortly deep bore wells will be sanctioned in the kandi areas.
Mr. Slathia was accompanied by MLA Bimla Luthra Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president of NC and various senior officers and prominent persons.
Later, a meeting of District Officers was convened in Kathua where Minister took stock of the pace of the development works going on in the district and exhorted upon the officers to implement the policies and programmes of the Government in letter and spirit.
