Wani monitors snow clearance

SRINAGAR, Jan 20: The R&B Minister, Abdul Majid Wani today urged upon the Engineers of the department to work with full zeal and determination for making the lives of common people more comfortable. He asked them that their prime duty is to implement Government programmes and policies on the ground level in totality.
The Minister immediately after his arrival started personal monitoring of snow clearance operations taking place in the snow bound areas of the Valley.
He said that two provincial level control rooms have already been established by the Government to monitor the situation continuously where round the clock information about snow clearance operations is being collected, so that further steps could be taken well in time.
Mr Wani ensured that all the technical staff with snow clearance machines stands deployed on all the major road links. He said, despite heavy snow/ rain fall, the Government functionaries have been able to restore almost all the major road links within minimum possible time.
The Minister while taking stock of the situation, at a meeting of senior officers of all the departments, the Divisional administration was asked to personally monitor the situation and also ensure sufficient stock and supplies in Kashmir valley.
The Minister also inspected the construction work of different bridges at Bye Pass road in Srinagar.
Later, the Minister offered prayers at Hazratbal Shrine and also took stock of arrangements made in connection with the celebrations of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) falling this month.
