‘Central schemes suffering for want of utility certificates’

JAMMU, Nov 11: Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh while expressing his total solidarity with the teaching fraternity in the State said the teachers are the role model for the society.
Talking to representatives of Rashtriya Shikshha Mahasangh (RSM) here, today Dr Jitendra Singh said the teachers deserve due place in the society as their role is unparallel.
Expressing solidarity with the teachers’ community, Dr Jitendra Singh showed concern over delay in holding the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings of teachers in the State. He said it is the weakness of authorities who fail to convene the DPC for last five years. Holding of DPC is a part of routine exercise of the Government. “There is no ground in denying salaries to employees”, he added.
He said a teacher has to visit offices for release of their salaries and this way he not only loses his time but the students are also affected by this.
He said there are complaints from every section of employees in the State that they have been denied salaries, the PHE employees, Anganwari workers and Multipurpose Health workers complaint denial of salaries. The Minister said when the officers get their salaries in time why not the workers. This is a grave injustice. He also justified hike in the perks of Anganwari workers and helpers and said that a worker can’t run her household on a meager honorarium.
The Union Minister also took a dig at administration and accused it of delaying the sanctioned projects in the State. He said many projects and schemes in the State suffered due to non submission of utility certificates by the State Government.
Earlier the teachers alleged that the DPC has not been convened for five years and maximum posts in Education Department of CEO, ZEOs, masters etc are lying vacant. They alleged that the lists are not being updated.
Dr Jitendra Singh also expressed his dismay over the failure of State Government to implement the MOU signed by it with ISRO over three years back.
Later BJYM Prabhari for Doda district Sanjay Parihar also turned the attention of the Minister towards Kontwara road which the authorities failed to construct for last seven years. He said the work has been abandoned on this road for unknown reasons and people of the area are suffering because of the same.
