JAMMU, Nov 13: Shri Ram Sena (SRS) today asked transport authorities to book the transporters plying video coaches, who charge arbitrary fares at their will.
In a statement issued here today, Shri Ram Sena, State president, Rajiv Mahajan urged Governor’s Administration to look into the matter with sincerity to issue a new directive to save the tourists and innocent passengers from the clutches of callous transporters.
He said several complaints are being received that tourist vehicles and other modes of transport ferrying passengers from Jammu to Delhi are overcharging during festival and holiday seasons.
Mahajan claimed that video coaches even charged Rs 5,000 per seat just after Diwali from Jammu to Delhi which is more than an air ticket.
While passengers are coughing up a handsome fare that is burning a massive hole in their pockets, RTO authorities have failed to take action against the errant operators, he said and asked State Government to fix the fare that private bus operators can charge from passengers.
