JAMMU, Nov 13: An international speaker program was organized in Jammu by Cancer Research and Analysis Bureau (CRAB) an offshoot of LBN Radiation of Hope, a Cancer Care Foundation Trust. Dr Poornima Upadhyaya, Medical Director International Cancer Care Network, Associate Professor Hemato Oncology, Howard University, Washington DC ,USA was the guest speaker.
She deliberated on Oncology as an evolving discipline and also do’s and dont’s in Oncology. She connected with the audience with her eloquence and spoke about role of Preventive measures to be taken in the eradication of cancer in present era.
Dr Poornima praised the role of Self Help Groups and Cancer Research Groups in cancer care and laid emphasis on formulating research protocols as well as treatment protocols and adhering to the guidelines in cancer care.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Poornima has joined the recently concluded Teleoncothon via video conferencing and that’s how she developed interest in making this maiden visit to Jammu.
Dr Poornima delivered a talk to further strengthen the collaboration in the field of Oncology. Dr Mir Hussain Medical Oncologist, presented a potpourri of cases.
A movie by Pink Chain Cancer Awareness Campaign ‘Vyatha’ on breast Cancer was also Premiered.
Dr Deepak Abrol, convener of program and State Coordinator Pink Chain discussed about the need of such type of cancer awareness movies and the role of cancer awareness in present era.
Dr Rahul Sharma, Associate Professor and Unit Head Radiation Oncology presented welcome address.
