10 PoK guests among 31 cross sides in Karvan-e-Aman bus

SRINAGAR:  Ten guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here while nine Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition, official sources said on Tuesday.
They said 12 returnees also crossed sides in the weekly Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, at the Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Monday.
Ten PoK guests, including three women, arrived at Kaman post in the afternoon yesterday to meet their separated relatives here. A person from Kashmir, who had gone to PoK, also returned, sources told UNI. They said nine Kashmiris, including four women and two children, crossed over to PoK. Sources said 11 PoK guests, including six women also returned to their homes after completing stay.
The bus, plying between Srinagar-Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, since April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 due to partition to meet each other.
Before the introduction of the bus, people from both sides on the LoC were travelling to Wagah or New Delhi to visit PoK. However, to facilitate easy travel of divided families, India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of divided families through Uri on Travel Permits instead of International passport, provided their names are cleared by intelligence agencies of both the countries.
