State Taxes Deptt inspects defaulting business units

JAMMU, Nov 20: Continuing with the drive already launched to tighten noose around GST3B and return non-filers, enforcement team of the State Taxes Department today conducted inspection of several business units in Jammu district and directed them to clear their tax liabilities within a week.
The tax payers, whose premises were inspected, included M/s R D Agencies at Channi Himmat, Jammu, M/s Ashoka Builders, Shahidi Chowk, Jammu, M/s Caulson & Company, Dogra Hall, Jammu; M/s Gupta Decorators & M/s Uttam Traders, Talab Tillo, Jammu; M/s Ajanta Electronics, BSF Paloura, Jammu; M/s Kasturi Lal & Bros, Gangyal and M/s Jagdamba Tyre House & M/s Jagdamba Tyre Palace, Narwal, Jammu.
The tax on turnover running in crores of rupees has been held back by the these dealers who were directed on the spot to clear their tax liability within seven days failing which action under Section 67 of the GST Act shall be instituted against them, said a spokesperson of the State Taxes Department.
The record of M/s Jagdamba Tyre House, Narwal, Jammu was seized so as to verify the genuineness of the Input Tax Credit as the dealer is suspected to have suppressed his sales. The dealer is carrying Input Tax Credit (ITC) forward and is clearing all his liability only through Input Tax Credit, the Spokesperson added.
The inspection team, headed by Mohammed Shahid Saleem, Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Administration & Enforcement), Jammu, comprised of Rakesh Magotra, Deputy Commissioner (Enforcement), Jammu, Arvind Sawhney, .Neeraj Sharma, Kuldip Jandyal, Rajesh Sharma, Mohit Raina, Annisa Nabi and State Taxes Officers, including Inspectors of the State Taxes Department.
The drive shall continue by the State Taxes Department and willful tax evaders / defaulters shall be dealt under law to ensure hundred per cent tax compliance and discipline, the Spokesperson said adding that the Department has directed all the tax payers to file all the GSTR returns well in time and clear the backlogs to avoid imposition of penalty on that count.
