The protesting family informed that on September 27, Ubaid left the home along with his two friends but did not return. “He left with his two friends who are living here in rented accommodation. We searched for him but could not find him. Following which we lodged a missing report in Batamallo Police Station,” Uzma Altaf, sister of Ubaid said.
In the month of September, the Police issued a statement that Police Station Batamaloo received a complaint from Mohammad Altaf Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a resident of Tengpora Batamaloo that his son left his home on September 27 and did not return back. “On receiving this information, a report was lodged and investigation to trace out the missing boy has been started,” Police said.
However, the family members alleged foul play into the whole investigation and demanded shifting of the case from the local police station. “Reacting to the missing report police arrested two suspects in the case who admitted that they were present with the victim that evening. But the suspect were released without completing the investigation,” a family member said.
The family members alleged that the suspects were not questioned properly. “The suspects said the trio met an accident near Parimpora and all the three fell into a well. However, as per them, Ubaid ran away from the spot where his body was found the next day. If he ran away, how did the body reach there?” a family member asked.
Meanwhile, the protesting family sought Governor, Satya Pal Malik’s intervention in the case.
