Pensioners hold one day conference at Sumbal

JAMMU, Nov 20: Jammu and Kashmir State Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society has demanded immediate solution of the long pending problems of pensioners and State Government employees.
In a one day conference at Sumbal -Sonawari in Bandipora district of South Kashmir the pensioners were apprised by the president of the Society, Mir Ghulam Rasool that in this connection they have also given a memorandum to Advisor to State Governor recently who assured that the demands will be settled.
Mir said that existing anomalies in pension of various retired employees be redressed and enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 3000 be sanctioned per month. He said that after revoking the Medicare Insurance Scheme by the Governor the Government should come with an alternative scheme so that the pensioners can take its benefit. He said however the premium rate for pensioners and class fourth employees and as well as daily wagers should be very less.
He said the Government has enhanced the perks and other allowances of ministers and legislators while the pensioners demands have not been settled who served the State for over 35 years.
Sheikh Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shilvati, Abdul Aziz, Ghulam Mohi-ud_Din, Mohammed Ramzan, Haji Noor Mohammed Sheikh, Mohamed Subhan Dar and others addressed the conference.
