JAMMU, Nov 24: Bharat Vikas Parishad Jammu Kashmir Prant conducted Bharat Ko Jano quiz competition here today.
On the occasion, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation was the chief guest whereas Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, JMC was guest of honour.
VP Gupta, Prant General Secretary presented the welcome address, while Amita Sharma, Prant President BVP threw light on the objectives of Bharat Vikas Parishad and various achievements of BVP.
14 teams from various branches of BVP participated in senior category and 14 teams in Junior category.
ML Vaid narrated the importance of the function whereas Er Gopal Sharma, Convener BKJ and Prant Organising Secretary narrated rules and regulations of the competition.
In neck to neck competition in Senior Category, JK Montessorie School Talab Tillo bagged first prize, whereas DAV School Kathua bagged second prize and ASN Higher Secondary School Channi Himmat clinched third position.
In another competition in Junior Category, Learning Temple School Kathua bagged first prize whereas Maharishi Vidhya Mandir Sainik Colony and KV No.1 Gandhi Nagar clinched second and third prizes respectively.
Dr Santosh Gupta, Regional Secretary, Sanskars acted as observer of the program and highlighted the need of inculcating sanskars among youth and gave a detailed lecture on sanskars. He also expressed satisfaction over the competition which was held in computerized manner for the first time.
He informed that teams who stood first will be participating at Regional Level Competition to be held in Kurukshetra on December 2.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion were Dev Raj Sharma and Arun Sharma, Regional Secretaries, SN Sharma and RP Gandotra, State Patrons, DR Kotwal, Dr Subhash Gupta, TC Taggar, Yuvraj Gupta, OP Mahajan, Usha Anand, Prof Deepak Gupta, Vijay Sharma, Bhupal Datta, Ashok Gupta, Sunita Gupta, JS Isher and many others besides Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers from various branches, school teachers and prominent citizens from all walks of life.
All the participants were given mementoes and certificates.
The competition was jointly conducted by Jyotsna Sharma, ML Vaid and Er Gopal Sharma.
All the proceedings culminated with National Anthem followed by vote of thanks by T.C Taggar.
