Residents face numerous problems

JAMMU: The residents of Ward Number 13 are facing numerous problems including dilapidated condition of lanes and drains, insanitation, unscheduled power cuts and overflowing of nallah in Mazdoor Basti.
The Ward comprised of Reshamgarh Colony and Mazdoor Basti.
“In this ward, people are facing problems due to water scarcity. Drinking water is not being supplied on regular basis. Due to irregular supply of drinking water, we cannot carry out our routine work including cooking food, washing clothes and utensils, etc”, Sunil Sharma, a resident said.
Unscheduled and long duration power cuts are the issued, which the residents of this ward face. This issue needs to be resolved on permanent basis”, another resident “Sumit Gupta said.
“The insanitary condition in our ward needs immediate attention as it is the issue to be redressed on priority due to fear of breaking out of health related problems”, another resident Sham Lal said.
In our ward, the lanes and drains need to be repaired immediately. Choked drains should be cleaned for the free flow of water, which comes out of the houses”, he said, adding that dumping of garbage is also an issue in our Ward, which the Corporator should take care of.
The issue of dilapidated condition of the lanes and drains also came to fore while interacting with the residents, to which they asserted that they have elected a dedicated Municipal Corporator, who will sort out the issue in the shortest possible time.
When contacted newly elected Congress Corporator of the Ward Rama Thakyal said that she will work for the overall development of the ward as people pose faith in me.
All the issues including water scarcity, power, insanitary conditions, deplorable conditions of lanes and drains, etc will be taken up with the concerned authorities for redressal, she added.
“My main focus will be the construction of the nallah at Mazdoor Basti, which overflows during every single rainfall”, Rama asserted.
For the overall development of the Ward, funds released by the Corporation will be utilised, she asserted.
