JAMMU, Nov 26: To mark the adoption of Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly, various institutions and organizations besides Government administration today celebrated Constitution Day.
On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.
On November 19, 2015, Government of India had declared 26 November as Constitution and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made the declaration in this regard on 11 October 2015 while laying the foundation stone of the B R Ambedkar memorial in Mumbai.
The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh, for the first time celebrated the Constitution Day at Council Secretariat wherein the Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal threw light on the significance of celebrating the Constitution Day.
Later, CEC JTN also led the Executive Councillors and staffs of Council Secretariat in taking the pledge, by reciting the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. The Dy Chairman Gyal P Wangyal, Executive Councilor for Health Tsering Sandup, Executive Councilor for Agriculture Phunchok Stanzin, Executive Councilor for Minority Affairs Mumtaz Hussain and staffs of Council were present on the occasion.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today administered the pledge to employees of his office and other staff on the Constitution Day. All the employees were present during the ceremony that took place in the officer chamber of Divisional Commissioner.
The Divisional Commissioner said that the day reaffirms our faith in the rule of law. He said that our Constitution promises to secure a social order in which justice, social, economic and political are preserved for the greater benefit of all the citizens.
District Administration Jammu celebrated Constitution day here today at the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex. On the occasion, DC Ramesh Kumar alongwith Additional DC and other staff members of DC Office took pledge by reciting preamble underlining the essence of the Indian Constitution as Sovereign, Socialist, Secular Democratic Republic.
District Legal Services Authority, Jammu, under the Chairmanship of its Chairman Vinod Chatterji Koul, (Principal District & Sessions Judge), celebrated the Constitution Day. Senior Civil Judge cum Secretary, Legal Services Authority Naushad Ahmad Khan, conducted proceedings of the programme.
The event was among others attended by all the Judicial Officers, Prosecutors, Advocates, Retainer Lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers and staff members. Besides, V C Koul, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr District & Sessions Judge) Jammu, those who spoke on the occasion, included Virinder Singh Bhau, 2nd Additional District & Sessions Judge and Yahya Firdous Ahangar, Special Railway Magistrate.
At Udhampur, the District Legal Services Authority, observed the national Day under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge, (Chairman DLSA) Sanjay Parihar .
The programme was among others attended by Deputy Commissioner Ravinder Kumar, Additional Session Judge C L Bavouria, Sub Judge (CJM) Balbir Lal Jaswal, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Sandeep Kour (Sub-Judge), Secretary DLSA, Romesh Lal, SSP Rayees Ahmed Bhat besides senior advocates and Bar president J D Salathia.
Throwing light on the importance of the Day, Sanjay Parihar said “The day reminds us of our dedication to serve the society, particularly the poor and downtrodden sections of the society to ensure justice to all and take all steps to provide inexpensive and speedy justice to under-trials, which is their constitutional right”, DC Ravinder Kumar, Bar president J D Slathia and Advocate Bharat Bhushan Sharma highlighted the importance of Constitutional Day.
At Bhaderwah, an awareness camp marked the celebration of Constitution Day at District Court Complex Bhaderwah, which was held under the chairmanship of Principal District and Session Judge, Pawan Dev Kotwal.
District Secretary DLSA, Mudassar Farooq and Advocate Manjeet Razdan and Advocate Majid Malik spoke on the importance of this National Day.
The National Law & Constitution Day was observed in Government Degree College for Women, Kathua, in collaboration with J&K District Legal Service Authority. Kusam Pandita, Chairman. Tehsil Legal Services Committee (CJM) Kathua was the chief guest on the occasion. The chief guest along with Aarti Mohan, Secretary Distt Legal Services Authority (Sub-Judge),Kathua; Amit Sharma, Special Mobile Magistrate Kathua ; Dr Kulvinder Kour, Principal GDC Women Kathua, presented their views about Indian Constitution. A pledge was also taken by all those present on the occasion.
The Constitution Day was celebrated in District Court Complex Poonch by District Legal Services Authority Poonch. On the occasion, importance of the Constitution Day was highlighted. All the bar members of District Poonch, senior citizens and litigants participated in this function. Various advocates delivered lecture on salient features of the Constitution and a tribute was paid to Dr B R Ambedkar who was the main architect of the Constitution of India.
This function was presided over by Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch while. Chief Judicial Magistrate Poonch and District Mobile Magistrate Traffic Poonch were also present in this function.
District Legal Services Authority Samba, in association with Dogra Law College, celebrated Constitution Day. On this occasion, Swati Gupta (Sub-Judge; Secretary District Legal Services Authorities Samba, was the chief guest. She stressed upon the importance of Constitution for the legal system. She observed that one of the important objectives of District Legal Services Authorities is to spread the awareness of Law and the Constitution.
The college Principal Prof V P Magotra spoke on the process of Constitution making by the Constituent Assembly and emphasised that the people at large should be aware of the Constitution and its importance. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, addressed the students about the importance of Law, justice, equality, liberty and fraternity, the ideals of the Constitution.
Five students who participated in the paper presentation, included Vishal Dogra , Anjali, Nitika Verma, Gurkirit Kaur, Anuj Mahajan and Himani Khajuria.
District Legal Services Authority Reasi celebrated Law/Constitution Day today under the chairmanship of Kamlesh Pandit, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge), in Government Degree College Reasi.
Kamlesh Pandit threw light on different aspects of Fundamental Rights and duties of citizens envisaged in constitution of India in detail. A seminar was also held in which students of Legal Literacy Club Govt; Degree College Reasi and students of Model Legal Literacy Clubs of Govt Hr Sec School Pouni, Katra, Dharmari and Mahore took part .Prizes were distributed among children who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd positively in the seminar.
On the occasion the college Principal Dr S P Sarswat, Anjum Ara (Sub-Judge) Secretary District Legal Services Authority Reasi, Shalinder Bardwaj Retainer Lawyer and staff members were also present while Dr Rakesh Bharti conducted proceedings of the programme,
GDC R S Pura organized a seminar cum awareness programme in collaboration with office of the Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee (Munsiff/JMIC) R S Pura to celebrate the Constitution Day. The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Principal of the college, Prof Kalpana Kesar and supervision of Prof Anju Bala, Convener Cultural and Literary Committee and other members of the committee.
Rekha Nischal Kapoor, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee was chief guest on the occasion. There were deliberations upon the key issues of law and Constitution by dignitaries from court of law.
Advocate Sangat Singh, Adv Chaman Lal, Adv Rajiinder Singh Chib and Adv Parveen Kesar were the main speakers who shed light on the history of Constitution making, adoption, enactment and its relevance in upholding laws and rights in the country. The programme ended with the formal vote of thanks by Prof Balwan Singh.
The Constitution Day was celebrated today in various Government and private educational institutions across Ramban district with patriotic zeal. In this connection a programme was organised in the Government Higher Secondary School, Gool where the teaching staff and students, led by the SDM Gool, Pankaj Bagotra, besides Tehsildar Gool, Mohammed Ashraf read out the preamble of Indian Constitution. The teachers and the students took a pledge to safeguard the Constitution and also spoke on the theme and message conveyed in its preamble.
Similar programmes were also held in the Government Higher Secondary School, Batote, Government Higher Secondary School, Ramban and the Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School, Ramban where the preamble was read out and the message enshrined in it was explained to the students. They also took a pledge to abide by the preamble of the Constitution.
Vishwa Bharati Senior Secondary School Akalpur Morh, Jammu today celebrated Constitution Day in the school campus with great respect and honour for the Constitution of India.
On this occasion, a special morning assembly was organised in which students delivered speeches on the supreme law of land, its history and influence in different perspectives related to the governing of the country.
House In-charge Shakti Raina threw light on the significance of the Indian Constitution and its salient features for the knowledge of the students. An Inter house quiz competition was also organised in which students from class 7th , 8th and 9th participated . Vishwa House was the winner and was followed by Shivam house as the runner up.
Bahujan Samaj Party also celebrated Constitution day at its party Head office Satwari. The program was chaired by Charanjeet Chargotra, vice president BSP J&K who threw light on various provisions of the Constitution. R K Thappa, State general secretary lamented that all provisions of the Constitution were not implemented till today.
Other who spoke on the occasion, included T D Langay, Badri Nath B L Digra, Pritam Chand, Somnath (Ex MLA), Adv Pawan Kundal, Adv Rooplal, Adv Shashi and Kuldeep Chalotra.
