LEH, Nov 27: LAHDC Leh Chairman/CEC Jamyang Tsering Namgyal today warned that those schools who try to undermine Hill Council by not adhering with the rules and norms set by the Government would face the consequences and he had the guts to de-affiliate any school not following the set rule.
Chairing a meeting with heads of all the private schools in Leh, here today at Council Secretariat to discuss various issues, CEC Jamyang, who is also holding the School and Higher Education portfolio, gave strict warning to school heads to comply with the set rules.
Giving reference of the Commissioner Secretary School Education order no 520-Edu of 2013 dated 07-05-2013, CEC strictly warned against enhancing school fee without committee approval. He also said that he received number of complaints from parents against some school buses not having conductor with overcrowded. “Life safety is priority than education therefore all school buses should have proper spaces for school bags and seat belt must be fitted before 30th November 2018 set as deadline,” he added.
During the meeting, various other issues were discussed which included uniform fee structure in schools, 25 percent reservation quota for underprivileged student, teacher student ratio, classroom size, admission procedure, teacher appointment, uniform salary to teacher as per norms and adopting NCERT books in all school and a common calendar for all Government and private schools in the coming year.
Appreciating the contribution of private schools in providing quality education to the students, CEC stressed for a collective effort to strengthen Government schools in larger interest of common people.
CEC said that main purpose of holding the meeting is to discuss, brainstorm and take suggestions to reduce the gap between Government and private schools in terms of academic quality and other facilities. Joint Director School Education Tashi Dolma, Principal DIET/ Incharge CEO, Leh Konchok Angmo, ZEO Leh Paldan Tundup, Assistant Secretary JK BOSE Leh Tashi Tundup and Principals of 21 private schools attended the meeting.
