Kashmir is like home: Tabu

Srinagar, Nov 28: Former Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah, today inaugurated the fourth-edition of Kashmir World Film Festival at Tagore Hall here in the presence of eminent artists and film personalities.
Farooq while addressing the audience at the festival said that he will take every step to help the people of the Valley in preserving art and culture. “People who love art and culture, I am ready to help them out take it ahead for the future generation,” he said.
Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Sheikh Imran and Dr Sameer Kaul who is a top ranking oncologist were the guest of honour on the occasion.
The Bollywood celebrities who attended the festival include Tabu, Madhur Bandarkar, Raju Chadda, Rahul Mittra, Raj Bansal, Nagesh Bhonsle, Rajit Kapur, Vaani Tripathi and Ashok Kaul.
Indu Sarkar film, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar’s was screened as the opening of the festival.
While speaking to the audience, Bollywood’s charming actress, Tabu said that she always loves to visit the Valley. “Kashmir is like home to me and I feel privilege to be here. No doubt people are inviting me to Valley, but I personally love to be in the Vale,” she said.
Mehmeet Syed, a local singer present on the occasion said that organizing these kind of festivals is good for the people. “This is an amazing initiative. I think in a place like Kashmir, there will be some light moments for the people and this festival is best for it. This is a positive thing and I am looking forward to watch the movies that will suit to our culture as well,” she said
Founder and Director of KWFF, Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said that his aim by running this festival will be a way for the future generation and by the will of God, his efforts will be to take the festival to the highest level. “I believe in art and culture that is the need of the hour and I am always ready to promote it,” Khan said.
The seven day festival that began today will conclude on December 4, 2018.
