‘National Voters Day’ celebrated with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Jan 24: “National Voters Day” was celebrated across Jammu region with enthusiasm.
Department of Political Science under the auspices of IQAC of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade celebrated National Voters Day. Charandeep Singh, Deputy Election Commissioner, was the chief guest while Principal Dr Hemla Aggarwal was the guest of honour. Charandeep Singh threw light on the role of youth in shaping the nation through vote and encouraged them to participate in the process. A series of activities were organized including Mock Polling, where students were made aware about the whole polling process.
Government Degree College, Bishnah organized a declamation contest on the topic “Importance of Voting in Democracy” to celebrate National Voters Day. MLA Ashwani Sharma was the chief guest, while Principal Prof Kalpana Kesar was also present. Sonika Sharma and Govind Kaith secured first and second positions respectively, while Monika and Pooja shared third position.
National Voters Day was celebrated in GCW, Gandhi Nagar. On the occasion, one act play directed by Prof Sudhanshu Sharma was also enacted. Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal and Prof Seema Mir, members, Students Welfare Committee highlighted the importance of the day.
Government Degree College, Paloura celebrated National Voters Day. On the occasion, voters registration counter was opened, in which on the spot registration of students were carried out. Dr Savitri Sharma, Principal asked the students to constitute a Youth United for Voters Awareness (YUVA) Club to promote electoral participation.
NSS unit of Adarsh College of Education, Samba organized a slogan writing-cum-painting competition on National Voters Day. AK Kapoor, Chairman, Adarsh Educational Trust, PB Kapoor, MD, Rahul Kapoor, secretary and Poonam Chib, Principal threw light on the importance of the day.
Vimal Muni College of Education, Ramgarh organized an awareness rally on National Voters Day today. Dr SD Gupta, Principal and chairperson Anu Gupta impressed upon the students to organize these kinds of rallies for the awareness of the masses in future too.
National Voters Day was celebrated by Government Higher Secondary School, Utterbehani, in which students and staff members participated actively. Student participated in the Debate competition also and also organized a rally. Principal Nirmal Kumar Choudhary highlighted the importance of the day.
A seminar was held at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Katra to celebrate National Voters Day. Principal Tripta Bhardwaj and students expressed their views on the importance of the day. Sugam Sharma, Mehak Sharma and Abhishek Sharma, all students of class 12th bagged first, second and third positions respectively, while the consolation prizes were conferred to Rashika Suri and Divya Sharma, both students of class 12th.
National Voters Day was celebrated at Government Higher Secondary School, Nandpur, District Samba. On the occasion, Lecturers and Teachers made students aware about the role and importance of voting in democracy.
