BOSE conducts programme on Adolescence Education

JAMMU, Dec 1: The J&K State Board of School Education conducted State level Role Play and Folk Song/Dance Competition under National Adolescence Education Programme at Government HSS (B) Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Prof Veena Pandita, Chairperson, J&K State BOSE who was the chief guest on the occasion, thoroughly inspired the audience with her matured perceptions and thought provoking speech. She emphasized on the overall development of the adolescents by providing them information, counselling and services including the health services through this programme.
Dr Farooq Ahmad Peer, Director Academics/State Project Director, AEP, was the guest of honour, delivered insightful speech with his visionary ideas and thoughts. He highlighted the importance of Adolescence Education in present contemporary era.
The Role Play and Folk Song/Dance Competitions were organized at State level amongst various selected teams from District Level Competitions conducted at all the districts of Jammu division.
All the teams presented very cheerful and talented display, which were highly appreciated by the judges and the audience. Various themes viz Charms and Challenges of Adolescence, Healthy Relationships amongst Adolescents, HIV/AIDS-Stigmatization, gender equality, respect for elders, protection for environment and cause and impact of substance/drug abuse were highlighted in these competition.
Dr Archana Gupta, Bupinder Jamwal and Promilla Manhas were the adjudicators of the competition. The teams from districts Udhampur, Kishtwar and Samba were declared 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in Role Play Competition whereas the teams from districts Jammu, Samba and Doda stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The 1st two winning teams have to participate at national level competition at New Delhi from December 4 to December 7 2018. Reeta Gupta, Principal GHSS (Boys) Gandhi Nagar also spoke on the occasion and insisted that such programmes should be conducted in future also so as to benefit the students.
In the beginning, Dr Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Asstt. Director/ Project Officer highlighted the importance of Adolescence Education and gave brief description about the activities carried out by JKAEP Cell, JKBOSE. A cross section of people from Education Department, BOSE and students attended and participated in the programme.
