JAMMU, Dec 2: To address the woes of patients suffering from spinal problems in the city, Columbia Asia Hospital has introduced minimally-invasive Endoscopic Spine Surgery during the launch of a spine OPD unit today.
In a press conference here today Dr Arun Bhanot, Chief of Spine Department at Columbia Asia Hospital, Gurgaon said the OPD will cater to the needs of people from Jammu and Srinagar who are suffering from spine injuries or back pain.
He also informed that the spine surgery team at Columbia Asia has an experience of performing over 3500 surgeries with a success rate of above 90 per cent.
“The Minimally-Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) has special benefits such as faster recovery, shorter hospital stay and lesser chances of infections and complications apart from very less blood loss and less pain to the patients,” Dr Bhanot said adding that the patient can start walking after few hours of the surgery and can go home with in 2 to 4 days of the surgery.
He further said that the overall cost of Minimally Spine Surgery is less than conventional spine surgeries.
He informed that the OPD will be launched at the SRL Diagnostics center at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu on Dec 16 and the spine surgery team of Columbia Asia Palam Vihar, Gurgaon will visit Jammu on every 3rd Sunday of the month.
