JAMMU, Dec 3: The Kashmiri migrants have expressed grave concern over failure of the Relief authorities in restoration of quarters which have been locked by some displaced families putting up in their own houses in Jammu or outside the State.
All India Migrant Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) president, Desh Rattan, representative of over-aged youth, Ravinder Koul and RTI activist, Qanah have urged the Relief authorities to take cognizance of illegal sale purchase of quarters by some vested elements who have been allotted the quarters despite having their own residential houses.
They said that such acts have created a law and order problem in the camps as the Relief Organisation shows total helplessness in taking action against the erring persons.
They demanded that Government should make an inventory of all the quarters which have been locked by people despite having their own houses and get them unlocked for allotting in favour of those deserving migrants including chronic patients, destitute and widows who are unable to afford hefty rent outside.
They said that surfacing of a sale deed case of a quarter at Jagti is a cause of concern and no body be allowed to take possession of any quarter from any body without proper allotment from Relief organisation.
They also demanded a probe that who has taken up the money from a handicapped person for giving the possession of the quarter at Jagti and later backtracked forcing the family to take shelter on the veranda of the quarter.
