Strengthen Omar led Govt for overall development : Slathia

KATHUA, May 5:  Coalition Government is committed to the overall development of the State and in order to come up to the expectations of the people of the state,  Government has taken various initiatives under the able guidance of its Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to make it a  model state.
Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjeet Singh Slathia stated this while addressing a series of public gatherings at Bani,Bhoond, Basohli and Mahanpur areas of District Kathua.He appealed the people to strengthen the Omar Abdullah  led Government for the sake of overall development of the state .He reiterated that Government is committed to give planning and administrative powers to panchayats so as to have a strong democratic institution at grass root level. He also said that in order to do away with the growing problem of unemployment, Government is keen to open new avenues to benefit unemployed youth.
Responding to the demands of people at Bhoond and Bani, Minister directed General Manager DIC to ask Geology and Mining Department to conduct survey for the establishment of the cement factory in this area. He further directed NHPC to provide water and power supply to the villages where there is scarcity of these.
He also directed Chief Engineer NHPC to start construction of  ITI as committed by them for facilitating youth of the area. He said efforts will be made to upgrade the school from high to higher secondary in the Hut Mashka area. He also assured people that banking facility will be provided by opening counter in the area.
The Minster further assured that compensation will be provided to the people affected by  construction works   undertaken by GREF.Regarding the demand of Mini Hydro power projects, he said that 10 Mega watt power project will be established soon in the Bani area.
Minister said that directions to include Modal village Dullagal in Bani Dhaggar Road  has been issued to the Xen PMGSY. He assured the people that all the roads which are under construction will be completed soon. Regarding the distribution of three months free ration to snow affected people, Minister said that whole matter will be brought to the notice of Chief Minister.
Responding to the demands of Jindrali and Jannu, Minister issued directions to DDC Kathua for early restoration of the electricity.  He said toilets and building for higher secondary school Bhoond will be constructed on the priority basis. Regarding the demand of rest house at Bhoond, Minister asked the Sarpanch to give representation in this regard and so that  action could be taken accordingly.
In Basohli and Mahanpur also Minister gave a patient hearing to the demands put forth by the people and said that  their demands of giving Tehsil status to Mahanpur and opening up of ITI would be taken up at the appropriate forum.
