Eid-e-Milad celebrated across Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 25: Eid-e-Milad, the birth day of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the State today with the biggest congregation being held at Hazratbal shrine where thousands of devotees had glimpse of Holy relic.
People across the State offered special prayers in Masjids and Shrines to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah offered morning prayers at Hazratbal today and paid obeisance and greeted people on Eid-e-Milad. He was accompanied by the National Conference (NC) Provincial President, Nasir Aslam Wani.
Chief Minister prayed for peace, prosperity and wellbeing of the people. He also interacted with devotees and exchanged greetings with them.
The biggest congregation of the Milad was witnessed at the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar where thousands of people offered prayers. Devotees offered prayers during five times and had a glimpse of the Holy relic that was displayed after the five prayers throughout the day today.
Emotional scenes were witnessed at Hazratbal shrine and thousands of people were seen weeping during having a glimpse of the holy relic. They broke down and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity on this occasion.
The inclement weather failed to dampen the spirits of the people and they visited the shrines and Masjids in large numbers. Milad congregations were held in the Srinagar city at Jenab Saheb-Soura, Asar Sharief-Kalashpora, Syed Saheb-Sonwar and Lal Bazar. Milad congregations were also held at Makhama-Beerwah, Pinjoora-Shopian, Khiram-Sirhama and important shrines as well as Masjids located across the Kashmir valley.
At the Hazratbal shrine, Government Departments including Health Department and CAPD Department had set up stalls for the convenience of the devotees. Some of the NGOs had also erected stalls for the facilitation of the devotees.
The Divisional Administration had made elaborate arrangements for the devotees and State Road Transport Corporation was running special bus service from Lal Chowk to the Hazratbal shrine for the devotees.
Religious processions and rallies were carried out as part of the Milad celebrations across the Kashmir valley. Small processions were carried out in the city areas while as reports of Milad processions have come from other districts as well.
On the occasion of Eid Milad, the Masjids and shrines and some markets were illuminated with artificial lights and decoration.
While congratulating people on the eve of Milad, chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Farooq, said that all the problems faced by
Muslims can be solved by following the principals and teaching of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Mirwaiz said His arrival brought awakening, enlightment, and end of darkness and ignorance.
